This was confirmed later on by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) that the vice president was on a "personal trip" to Germany with her family. No considerations. No thinking twice. The vice president disappeared amid the country's alerting situation. She faced public backlash that time, accompanied by people lambasting her role as a vice president. But, just as we thought she learned her lesson—her action right now says otherwise. The coincidence of this date highlights her irresponsibility throughout the years. Once again, with several storms arising and pounding the Philippines consecutively, the vice president is nowhere to be found in the country. So, where is she? At The Hague. Yet again for a "personal trip," leaving the Filipinos during a desperate time. Late former Representative Edcel Lagman criticised this action before, saying that Duterte's action showed "lack of empathy and concern" as parts of the country were placed in a state of emergency. While the marginalized Filipinos suffer from heavy rains, winds, and floods, the politicians we elected enjoy their day sipping hot coffee and enjoying the cold weather brought by the storms—with some even going out of the country for a personal trip. This is just outrageous. Furthermore, Lagman added that the trip is not an excuse, and it does not justify her leaving the country at a time of crisis. Duterte should remember that she was elected as a vice president for a reason—to attend to the needs of the Filipinos. But, how will she respond to it properly when she's missing at the scene? It's disappointing, but not surprising. I couldn't expect more for a problematic vice president in this problematic government. Duterte never learns her lesson.
