I have lived a life where solitude and peace can take the form of solace, fooling you into thinking that living this way is much better than connecting with other people. And I tell you this: it is crucial that you acknowledge it with full understanding and with your whole heart before it suffocates you.

Isolation, indeed, gives you the freedom to do anything you want: the freedom to watch films, walk outside, eat in a fast-food restaurant, play mobile games, sing at karaoke, and talk to yourself—all of that by yourself. To be frank, I am so fond of it. It gives you solace, peace, and time to know yourself more deeply.

However, is it really possible to lose myself while doing those things that get me into a state of such bliss? Perhaps.

There are many times when I really tried—trust me, I did—to look for someone to talk to because I worry. Many times, I cried on my bed because of how isolation fools me into thinking, "This is way better than enjoying it with someone." How it fools me into thinking that I don’t need anyone when, in fact, I needed at least one… at least one friend to talk about physics, poetry, life, and my uncertainties, or at least a friend with whom I can laugh. I hate how it romantically fools me.

AND BEFORE IT FOOLS YOU, TOO, YOU MUST LOOK FOR YOUR BOUNDARIES BETWEEN ISOLATION AND INTERACTION.

I am not saying that just because I experienced all of those things, they are explicitly applicable to your life as well. But I must remind you: No matter how much you love your solitude and isolate yourself from everyone, you must have at least one friend. You must acknowledge the fact that you need someone—not because you have to, but rather because it gives unique colors to your delightful life.

In that way, isolation can't fool you. In that way, you're not just growing through your authentic experiences but also letting your life be exposed to other colors.

You are letting your personal well-being grow, not with loneliness, but with laughter, small talks, and bliss that you have shared with someone. I am not saying that it’s impossible for you to live with solitude and isolation while they also give you life; I am implying that the importance of interaction with other people helps us construct different meanings in our lives.

So when you suddenly want someone to listen to you, when you suddenly have the urge to eat with someone outside, and sing at karaoke afterward, you have someone to look out for. So that isolation can't fool you into thinking that all you need when that moment arrives is yourself–nothing else.

Because truthfully, deep inside our yearnings and scripted happiness, we seek companions. And it's not because we want to look for them, but because we deserve them. And this is the most bemusing part of isolation: it confuses you. About whether you eagerly want and deserve that interaction, or if it's just you forgetting that you have your own solitude to console you, which feels much better because you know yourself far better than anyone else does.

But do not fall for it. Embrace it.

Remember, while solitude and isolation can give you solace, you must not let them fool you into thinking that there is no room in your life for socialization. You don’t want to find yourself crying in the middle of the night because of the realization that you can't find someone to listen to you.

Building relationships with others is vital for our well-being, as it gives us support and care. And maybe isolation right now is giving you the idea that isolating yourself also gives you support and care, but sometimes that’s destructive, conditioning yourself not to need anyone when your inner self wants one—a warm soul hugging you through words and even through silence.

Do not let isolation wake you one day, only to realize that you no longer know how to articulate your thoughts and that you have just lost yourself. You deserve a companion… while still finding delight and solace in your solitude.
