It was funny how I thought you and I are supposed to grow together, but you chose to let go…
As I stood between the water and the sand, waves startled me back from wondering about you. Even when the sun goes down and the moon meets the ocean, I can’t help but think about the bond between us.
“Nothing can stop us.”
Foolish of me to believe those words you said. And all you could do is to push yourself away.
There were times when storms hit us but we remained calm and strong because I thought that was what friends are for. We saw things change between us, but as we grew older—my feelings also grew, stronger than ever.
The thing we had is the best thing I could ever ask. Those journeys we’ve overcome in between, that fights every battle within. The ocean’s big, yet, I found myself on an island of my dreams.
It is the friendship that became a romantic relationship.
It was a picture-perfect scene, where our love for each other can truly be seen. That makes it special—we knew each other since the day we were born. The laughter we shared, the warmth we carried, and it's the thing between us that shows how we care.
And as the strong winds came, it brought us to our own way that slowly blew out our flame.
We sailed in opposite directions and without a word, I found myself going with the flow, thinking I’d end up in the direction I saw you go. But none of that happened. I held the candle that carries the flame of our love, holding it closer to my arms.
Where were you?
I decided to find you again, but the waves just kept pushing me to the shore, showing signs to stop. That’s when you came back—not to ignite the flame but to completely blow it up.
That’s it?
The memories we held were nowhere to be found and never told. I buried it beneath the sand and that’s when I made up my mind to stay beyond the land. Away from the water, away from the home that keeps me safe and unbothered.
But now it’s gone. I tied myself up to the sand, never letting the waves b
ring me back to the ocean.
