Imagine the worst one could ever do
Apply it to those before you
A fate worse than death, you could describe
When death is more favourable than being alive
Blood on the hands with power
Blood on satellite images
Blood on children and mothers
Blood on the rich and privileged
Why keep your mouth shut and silent?
When Sudan screams for acknowledgement
Why are you not outraged and angry?
Where is the support and advocacy?
Let your words walk
Let your actions speak
Don’t say you want peace
When you turn a blind eye to those in need
A bloodshed funded by the rich and greedy
How many more have to die for them to fuel their greed?
How many more must survive to tell their story?
A lawless land brimming with apathetic creed
Unlucky from the geographical lottery
Does that justify a life of sorrow and grief?
What to say when there is not a word?
No justification for things you’ve seen and heard
Inside, a twinge of hope strikes
Interviews from women and children alike
Stories that haunt even the toughest of minds
A burning heart persists through the light
A life is to be lived
Stories are to be told
Humans are to thrive
The innocent are to survive
This is not a war, it’s something worse
Though there is hope, they need your words
Keep talking, it’s the least we can do
Keep talking, start screaming the truth
We will never be free until countries like Sudan are like you and me
