To love an activist is to understand that my attention will rarely belong to you alone. My heart does not beat alone for your existence; it also beats beneath the scream of the workers and in the force of the wails of those deprived by the rotten system. And sometimes, I wonder if you still want to hold the same hand that has been exposed to the sun’s heat while carrying signboards bearing the people’s calls.

I cannot offer you a simple peaceful romance that ignores the rest of the world. As an activist myself, my voice can never stay silent while the rest of the masses are suffering. My footsteps are destined to keep marching for the people who have been silenced by a system that refuses to change.

Since loving an activist comes with a cost, and that cost is sharing my life not only with you—but also to every person who fights for their rights. I cannot blame you if sometimes you think you come second in my heart. But the truth is that you hold a place in my heart that nobody can ever enter.

There is no first or second in my heart, because if my devotion were to be divided, the only thing that shares my heart with you is my activism for the masses.

What I feel for you and what I feel for the masses, comes from the same place: I refuse to stay silent when everyone I love is affected by the current system, and you are one of those people I love.

I don’t want your future to be as complicated as the one our country is going through now. If it ever happens that I'm not by your side in the future, you'll remember me in every activist you will see standing in the streets giving a voice to those oppressed by the system.

So when you see me marching on the streets, I hope you'll realize that my love for you never strays wherever I go. Because I believe that the highest form of love isn't focused on just one person, but also on the masses who have been fighting for years. And every step I take and every voice I raise is for you and for our future, which I don't want to be as hard as it is now.

So this letter is for you, and with the assurance that you own my whole heart, and only my fight for the people's freedom will ever share it with you.
